With a big thanks to Gerald Hernandez from Geospatial Paradigm Solutions, Inc. for contributing this awesome little VBA application! As it's name implies, Halo creates a "halo" around your elements which is especially useful for drawing attention to specific design elements. You can also use this to emphasize vector data that may be difficult to see when displayed on top of a raster. A must have for all mappers! 2004-04-04 Origianl posting date. 2005-03-30 Minor revisions.
Download 236.zip and extract halo.mvba from the zip file. Place the mvba in the folder pointed to by MS_VBASEARCHDIRECTORIES Keyin vba load halo to load the project, or... Configure MS_VBAAUTOLOADPROJECTS to automatically load the mvba project upon startup. Keyin vba run CreateHalos to run the macro, or... Place the keyin on a function key or custom button for quick and easy access. Once loaded, you will be presented with the following dialog that allows you to change the halo's colour and weight. The halo element will be placed on active level and that the default values for both the colour and weight is 4. Please note that halos will not work as expected for Windows TTF fonts. In addition, it is not recommended to use this application on dimension elements.
