Original Tip Date: Feb 26, 2002

Quick and easy way to edit level names!

MicroStation V7 - Rather than changing level names via the Level Names dialog, try this!

  • Open the Level Names dialog
  • Do a File > Save and enter a name. You have just exported your exiting level names to an external text file with the extension of LVL. This file is also referred to as a Level Structure file
  • Open the LVL file with any text editor and change the names as you wish. Be sure to maintain the columns as they are.
  • Back in MicroStation, and still in the Level Names dialog, go File > Open and select the modified LVL file.

    Ta-Da!
