With many thanks to James Bolderjack for sharing this application. Designed for V8, it will extract all text from your design file and output it to a text file. To extract text from multiple files, use the macro with the Batch Processor.
Download and extract TextToFile.mvba to one of the folders being pointed to by MS_VBASEARCHDIRECTORIES.Once downloaded, you'll need to make one small edit in the macro. So, go into a file and keyin vba load texttofile then press ALT+F11. From the Microsoft Visual Basic editor, locate and edit the bit of code for the output path as shown below. (Don't forget to save your changes.)
Once the edit has been made, you're ready to run the macro by simply keying in vba run [TextToFile] WriteTextToFile. The resulting text file will be dumped into the folder specified in the code above and will have the same name as the design file.
