The
Boresite
Lock
I love this explanation of the
Boresite Lock
from
Chuck Gummo
:
"The Boresite Lock is like a locate tolerance in the third dimension. When it's off, your locate tolerance is a sphere. When its on, its a cylinder."
To expand on this, if it's on, you can select or snap to elements at any depth in the design cube.
If it's off, you can only select those elements that are at or very near the Active Depth, but it will still allow you to snap at elements at any depth.
Note: The boresite lock has been removed in MicroStation V8 XM Edition.
