Create a selection set from your graphic group
  
To create a selection set from a Graphic Group: Ensure that your Graphic Group lock is ON then use the PowerSelector tool and poke on one of the elements. All elements in the Graphic Group will now be part of the selection set. With many thanks to Bentley's Phil Chouinard for sharing this most excellent tip.
