When attaching a detail, there's no need to use a calculator to figure out the scale you should use. For example:

If the plot scale of your drawing is 1:150 and you need to position a 1:50 detail on the same sheet, it has to be placed three times larger than normal. When attaching the detail, simply enter 150 in the Master field and 50 in the Ref field. MicroStation will then perform the proper calculation to determine the reference attachment scale which is 150/50 = 3. Similarily, a 1:25 detail on the same sheet would be attached with a Master:Ref scale of 150/25
