Auto-Update Reference Level Display, Level Symbology etc
Let's say you have a model attached as a reference and then go and change the level display or the ByLevel symbology of some levels in that file. By default, MicroStation will not update the display of the reference unless you have the following defined:
MS_LEVEL_AUTO_SYNC_ATTRIBUTE_LIST
This variable controls the list of level-attributes that will automatically synchronize when a file if opened. The attributes can be one or more of the following as a comma separated list : OverrideSymbology, OverrideColor, OverrideStyle, OverrideWeight, ByLevelSymbology, ByLevelColor, ByLevelStyle, ByLevelWeight, GlobalDisplay, GlobalFreeze, Lock, and Plot. Each of the above attributes can take a "Reference" or "Library" prefix and without the prefix, the said attribute will be synchronized for both reference & library levels.
This variable will affect nested references as well as self-referenced references.
Notice my use of the
Expand Set
keyin to set a *temporary* configuration variable for this clip. This prevents me from having to close MicroStation, open and edit configuration files and then restarting MicroStation. It's a great time saver for testing variables too!
