    Compress your UPF file

Original Tip Date: Nov. 25, 2003

    Compress your UPF file

If you set MS_COMPRESS_USER_PREFS = 1 it will cause MicroStation V8.5 to detect UPF files that are larger than 500K and compress them.

Sam Wilson points out that MS_COMPRESS_USER_PREFS is set by default in MicroStation 08.05.01.xx but not the earlier versions. Also, to turn this feature off, you can un-set this configuration variable.
