Problem

When using a Microstation pen table I want to be able to select a nested reference file via slot number. How can this be done? 

Solution

This is a WAD (Works As Designed) issue. Slot numbers are only unique within a single level. So if you had two references, each with nested references, both sets of nested references would be slot 1, slot 2,etc... There would be no way to uniquely identify them.
