None of the tools in the 3D Modify toolbox (Modify Solid, Remove Faces,Construct Taper, Construct Union, Construct Intersection, ConstructDifference, Cut Solid, etc.) work correctly on my 3D elements. Theyeither fail with the Status Bar message "Unable to modify solid" or theyproduce inaccurate results. Product: MicroStation V8Version: VariesArea: General, Problem ID#: 19432, PROBLEMSOLVING
Solid elements might be outside of MicroStation V8's Solids WorkingArea. The Solids Working Area V8 8.0 and 8.1 currently use can bethought of as a miniature design cube within the design file's designcube, in which all modeling involving the Parasolid mode ling kernelmust take place. This cube is centered around the file origin (0,0,0),and its size can be found (and modified) via the Settings > Design File> Working Units > Advanced dialog box, under Working Areas > Solids. Thelength listed under Solids is the length of one edge of this cube. TheSolids Working Area is primarily provided for reverse-compatibility withV7 files, and as a way to relate V8's real-world working units to theParasolid modeling kernel. You can increase the size of the Solids Working Area, at the expense ofsolids accuracy. Note that changing this value does not change theResolution, meaning that the size of elements in the file will not bechanged. MicroStation's help system recommends setting the Resolution to1,000,000 per Meter and Solids to 100 Kilometers to achieve the maximumaccuracy for solids.
