Why does View Display require a saved setting, but changing global display does not.
Global Display is a Level attribute, which is a file setting (otherexamples of a file similar to placing a line, attaching a reference, etc.)View Display is a view attribute (other examples of a view attribute:zoom level, grid display, etc.)File properties do not require a save settings, however view attributeshave always required a save settings. Before MicroStation V8 , display of the levels were exclusivelycontrolled by a view attribute, so it was always known to perform a savesettings, to retain level display values after the file is closed.Note:Before MicroStation V8, reference levels were controlled through thereference data, which was in a file setting. So changing the leveldisplay of a reference level did not require a save set ting to retaindisplay values of a reference level after the file is closed. This haschanged in MicroStation V8. That is, the reference level display maskdata is controlled in the same manner as the active levels, thusrequires a save settings to retain display values after the file isclosed.
