Problem

How to define  RF_DIR using relative path(s) in V8

Solution

MicroStation V8 supports relative path names from user defined configuration variables. For example, you can define your own configuration variable, PROJECT_ROOTA, and have reference files defined as PROJECTROOTA:\electrical\xxx.dgn, PROJECTROOTA:\hvac\yyy.dgn etc.

This is much better than using the general purpose MS_RFDIR and if you move your file server, you just redefine PROJECTROOTA and all of the reference files will be resolved.
