Intellitrim tool working a little differently from V7 to V8 when snap mode is set to Near Snap.--There is a difference from V7 to V8 & how the Intellitrim tool is cutting lines.
MicroStation V8 seems to be cutting additional lines when setting the Snaps to "Near" where as V7 did not.
There were conscious changes in V8 to aggressively create cuts at anything "near" to an endpoint. This usually comes up with a tangency -- think of a quarter circle joining a line at a fillet point. The stored coordinates for these are famously inaccurate, and the two pieces frequently do not "really" meet where they appear to. So the internal strategy is to look for both (a) "true intersections as found by accurate calculation" and (b) "anyplace that an endpoint comes near to something else"Attached to original SR is sample file that will visually describe the steps to use. There are 2 files one V7_Trim "open in MS/J" & the other V8_Trim "open in V8".Select the Intellitrim tool & set Mode to: Quick & Operation to: Cut.Set Snaps to: Near Snap.
Steps:1. Snap to the Midpoint of the Horizontal line "see file"2. Then, to the left-side of the horizontal line, snap about halfway between the endpoint & the vertical line. "see file"-In V7 Notice the Vertical line is divided into 2 lines & the horizontal line remains 1 line.-In V8 the Horizontal line is divided into 3 segments & the vertical line is cut as expected.
