How to setup Digital Rights with a Password without using a Digital Certificate
1. Make sure that MS_PROTECTION_ENABLE is set to 1 or 2 in the 2004 Edition of V8 or MS_PROTECTION_ENCRYPT is set to 1 in 8.12. Go to File > Protection > Protect.3. Add a Password. This is an Author Password that when entered will give the User total access to the file (write, print, export, etc.) Note that if you forget this Password you will not be able to retrieve it and the file cannot be opened without it.4. The Digital Rights dialog will pop up.5. Click the Add Password icon, add the new password, and select the Rights to associate to this password. This is referred to as a License Password.6. When sending the file to a User to whom you would only like to give limited Rights send along the License Password. To give them full access to the file, send them the Author Password.
You can have multiple License Passwords in a file that can allow a variety of Rights.
