Problem

Can not select certain elements in a 3d file, but is still able to snap to them.

Solution

Enable Boresite Lock or ensure the display clipping planes are beyond the elements to be selected.

Possible reasons:
-Make sure the boresite lock is enabled.
-Make sure the display depths are beyond the elements depth in the view.

To enable Boresite:
-From Menu bar, go to Settings > Locks > Boresite
OR
-Key-in: LOCK BORESITE [OFF | ON | TOGGLE]

Note: Save settings to keep these settings for future sessions of this file.

Note about display depth:
MicroStation displays elements that are AT and inside the front and back clipping planes. MicroStation selects elements that are ONLY inside the clipping planes. So if the clipping plane limits are at the same range as an element, it can't be selected, but it is visible.
