Problem Description

After assigning or attaching a material to an object, it appears as a solid color.

The material may or may not display correctly in the material preview.

Steps to Resolve

The material may appear to be a solid color due to the scaling applied to the pattern image in relation to the model's working units.

Step 1: Make sure the model is using correct units

1. Go to: Settings > Design File > Working Units
2. Set the appropriate Working Units
3. Click OK
4. Save Settings

Method 1: Select File > Save Settings

      Method 2: Shortcut <Ctrl-F>

Step 2: Make sure the pattern map image is scaled appropriately

Option 1 - Adjust the material pattern map values dynamically in a view

To Access

Menu: Tools > Visualization > Materials > Dynamically Adjust Map

Tasks: Visualization > Dynamically Adjust Map

Shortcut: Material Editor > Pattern Map Editor dialog

Key-in: MATERIAL MAP DYNAMIC

Option 2 - Change the material pattern map values in the Pattern Map Editor dialog

  1. Open the Material Editor dialog
  2. Select the material
  3. Select the General tab
  4. Click on the Pattern Map icon to open the Pattern Map Editor
  5. In the Pattern Map Editor dialog, expand the Units section
  6. Change the X & Y sizes as needed
