    Problem

Setting text frame size and scale in place note tool

    Background

Text frame size appears to change as the height and width of text is adjusted or if text in text frame shape is modified to add or remove characters. What factors determine size of the shape and is there a way to specify an exact size for the text frame.

    Solution

The Left margin sets the Right and Left margin from text to the box boundary and  Lower margin sets the top and bottom margin.

All note text frame sizes are determined from the ‘Box’ and then ‘Circle’ frames as a basic geometry. It means, if you set a Hexagon frame with Left and Lower margin is 2.00 and 0.5 respectively. It will first assume a box as per margins, then assumes a circle which touches all 4 corners of that box. On that circle it will place a circumscribed Hexagon.

The frame scale values takes the size of the frame based on previous factor of the left margin and lower margin and then allows you to apply a scale factor to the text frame.

You cannot set fix size for frames because when text added or deleted, the frame size will be change to cover that text.
