Drawing Boundary not available when using Place Named Boundary
Product(s):
MicroStation
Version(s):
10.00.00.25
Environment:
N\A
Area:
Sheet Composition
Subarea:
Drawing Boundaries
Problem Description
When I use the Place Named Boundary tool and go to select a predefined Drawing Boundary the one I want to use is not available in the drop down list.
Background
The available Drawing Boundary list is populated from your configured *.dgnlib files and their defined Drawing Boundaries.
When a Drawing Boundary is created there is the option to choose a Drawing Type:
The Drawing Type selected will determine its availability when placed in a Design using the Place Named Boundary tool and is dependent on if the design is 2D or 3D.

Steps to Resolve
The first thing to check is if the opened design file is 2D or 3D, this can be seen at the top of the MicroStation application in brackets.
If the Drawing Boundary required is not available for example if in a 2D design file open a 3D design file and see if it exists. If it is still missing have your Site Administrator check the configuration (The *.dgnlib file containing the Drawing Boundary needs to be available to the opened design so check the MS_DGNLIBLIST variable).
If the Drawing Boundary is available but not in the required 2D or 3D design file, ask your Site Administrator to change its Drawing Type ( Open the *.dgnlib and select the Drawing Boundary in the Properties dialog change the Type as required or create a new one of the required type )
