Selection in perspective view

 Product(s):MicroStation
 Version(s):10.00.00.25
 Environment:N\A
 Area:Selection
 Subarea:General

Problem

In MicroStation V8i using a perspective view when  attempting to do element selection (using draw select rectangle )  and zooming in and out, you can still select what you need. However, in Connect the selection rectangle and zoom does not keep selection point in position you want as the starting point of the selection, rectange keeps changing.

For example:

  1. Open 3d model
  2. In top view add some perspective
  3. Use element selection tool
  4. Start selection window in left bottom corner of window or your left part of model
  5. Go with selection to right top corner and try to zoom out / in with mouse wheel to zoom out of screen to select whole model or most of his part

The starting point of selection rectangle will not change starting position based on how far you zoom in and out of the model

Solution

Go to the "Window Area" tool and turn off "Move Camera"

If setting is on, the entire camera (including the eye point and target) moves when you zoom in to the view.

If setting is off, only the camera's target point moves and the eye point remains fixed.
