Problem

How do I pattern an exisiting element with a cell?

I would like to flood a pattern in my file within the confines of an element, and I would like that pattern to be of a previously created cell, how do I do that?

Steps to Accomplish

1. Open the Cell Library dialog box by going to Annotate Tab > Cells Ribbon Group > Cells Dialog Launcher.

2. In the Cell Library dialog, select File > Attach File.

3. Choose the cell library that contains your desired pattern. Click Open.

4. Close out of the Cell Library dialog box. Open the Pattern Area tool (Annotate Tab > Patterns Ribbon Group > Pattern Area tool)

5. Choose the type of patterning you want, select From Cell as the Pattern Definition. Click on Browse Cell(s)

6. The Cell Library dialog will reappear. Choose the particular cell to pattern with and click the Set Active Pattern Cell toggle.

7. Back in Pattern Area tool settings, change the settings within the tool however you would like to accommodate the size and shape of the element in which you are placing the pattern.

8. Enter data point within the element you want to annotate with the pattern, then enter a data point to accept the element and the pattern will be created.
