How to import a display style from a dgn to my standards dgnlib file

 Product(s):MicroStation
 Version(s):08.11.09.459
 Environment:N\A
 Area:Graphics Display
 Subarea:Display Styles

Having created Display Styles in a dgn file, how can I import these into my Office_Standards.dgnlib library file so they are available in all files.

Background

Currently there is no Import/Export option on the Display Styles dialog ( Enhancement Request 86242 )however the following workaround can be followed.

( Note. This may require the assistance of your Site/ CAD Administrator )

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Take a copy of the dgn file containing the Display Styles required to be added to the Office_Standards.dgnlib file and rename it with the dgnlib extension. ( or just rename the file temporarily )

  2. Add the renamed.dgnlib file to the MS_DGNLIBLIST variable and restart MicroStation

  3. Open Office_Standards.dgnlib file and open the Display Styles dialog.

  4. The Display Style dialog should now show the Display Styles within the renamed.dgnlib file, Double click on the Display Styles name to copy the Display Style to the active file Office_Standards.dgnlib. ( The Display Style should be show in bold when copied )

  5. Remove the renamed.dgnlib from the MS_DGNLIBLIST variable and restart MicroStation.

  6. Remove the renamed.dgnlib or rename back with the *.dgn extension depending on action taken in step 1.
