I want to be able to attach a Microsoft Word or Excel document to MicroStation and update the document from within MicroStation once the file is attached.
1. Navigate to Edit>Insert Object.
2. Select 'Create From File' then hit 'Browse...' and search for the file you want to attach. Make sure 'Link' is checked as well.
3. Hit OK. The file will appear in MicroStation. Once you have made a change in the source file and closed it, you can either go to Edit>Update Links to update all of your links in the file OR you can go to Edit>Links, choose your file in the window that appears and select 'Update Now'.
NOTE: There is currently an Enhancement filed to give OLE objects the ability to automatically update, but it is not currently a part of MicroStation.
