Background

Would like to save the contents of a fence out to a separate DGN file.

Steps To Accomplish

Using the Key-In “Fence File” or “FF=” to save your dgn file or part of your file to a New dgn file.

Place a fence around the desired elements.

Open Key-In Dialog Box, Type in “Fence File” or “FF=”

Hit the Enter Button

This will open a Windows Explore Dialog Box. Browse to where you want to Save the New File and Name your New File. Save this File.

You will be prompted to Accept the Contents. Click a Data Point on the Screen to Save the elements to the New File.

You will see the File has been Saved to the new location and name.

You should now have the new file.

Using this method allows you to extract certain elements out to a New file without having to copy the entire file and delete unwanted data.

If you find you have a file that is not working correctly this can sometimes help to fix the issue by removing the elements to a New File leaving bad data behind in the old file.
