MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 4 delivered enhancements to the installer and configuration that make redirecting the application to networked resources much easier.
(Note that in this update the default installed Configuration directory path is now changed from C:\ProgramData\Bentley\CONNECT Edition\Configuration to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\Configuration. This MetroStation Example WorkSpace is delivered to this folder.)
Run the installer and see at the top right there is a Configure > option, click on this:
Here you will be offered the option to change the installation location.
Generally this is unneccessary, however if you have installed earlier versions of MicroStation CONNECT Edition, your installation folder name may contain the update number, e..g. 'MicroStation CONNECT Edition Update 2', in which case ensuring that the install path is the current default as shown below will make your installation location consistent with our documentation making life that little bit simpler.

In the following step we have added a new option which sets the location of the Custom Configuration during installation.
Select the 'Custom Configuration (plus Delievered Configuration)' option then click next:
Inclusion of the Delivered Configuration makes the MetroStation example training project available to everyone for training and troubleshooting. It also ensures that resources that are not explicitly redirected or changed by the Custom Configuration are still available, reducing the occurence of configuration errors.
Note that this step does not create any files or folders, it just changes the value of _USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION in "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\Configuration\ConfigurationSetUp.cfg".
If the root folder needs to be changed at a later date simply editing the value of _USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION in "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\Configuration\ConfigurationSetUp.cfg" will apply the change to the machine, updated copies of ConfigurationSetUp.cfg can be distributed by various means.
In the following step specify the root folder for your Custom Configuration; an existing folder can be selected or a new folder can be created. :
Next select any installation optiosn that you may wish to change then click Done to complete the configuration options stage:
Accept the End user Licence Agreement then click Install.
Once installation has completed you can create your Custom Configuration either:
Manually in the folder selected above by copying/creating the appropriate folders and files if you have existing resources and the required experience.
Or:
Semi-automatically by using the create Workspace and WorkSet tools available on the BackStage, these will populate the Custom Configuration root folder with the required Organization and WorkSpace folders where custom resources can be added.
For help with those stages please find the training available on this topic via the Bentley CONNECT Advisor another feature delivered in Update 4, search for 'configuration' and filter by 'LEARN' to see the relevant videos:
