The MicroStation V8 XM Edition Software Prerequisite Pack v08.09.04.xx needs to be installed to your workstation prior to the installation of MicroStation V8 XM Edition v08.09.04. The MicroStation V8 XM Edition Software Prerequisite Pack is available from the Web downloads/MySELECT CD area of SELECTservices Online. The contents of the MicroStation V8 XM Edition Software Prerequisite Pack include:

Important Note: The MicroStation V8 XM Edition Prerequisite Pack v08.09.04.xx needs to be installed prior to the installation of MicroStation V8 XM Edition v08.09.04 even if you have installed a previous version of the MicroStation V8 XM Edition Software Prerequisite Pack (like v08.09.00.xx or v08.09.03.xx) to the same workstation.
The minimum recommended workstation profile for running MicroStation V8 XM Edition is:
Intel® or AMD® processor 3.0 GHz or greater
256MB minimum, 512 MB recommended. More memory will almost always improve performance, particularly when working with larger models.
900MB free disk space (which includes the 400MB install footprint for a complete installation)
Graphics Card supported by DirectX 9.0. See graphics card manufacturer for latest information on DirectX drivers. If no graphics card supported by DirectX can be found, MicroStation will attempt to use software emulation under Windows XP SP2. At least 128 MB of video RAM is recommended. For optimal performance, graphics display color depth should be set to 24-bit or higher. When using a color depth setting of 16-bit, some inconsistencies will be noted.
