How to create and configure CONNECT Edition User Preference Seed files (UPF XML)

Background Information

In some rare cases, such as a power outage or a crash, MicroStation may refuse to restart correctly, or either crash or display an error message when opening a file. In these cases, resetting the MicroStation to factory defaults may solve the problem. However, it is always very annoying that your own presets are lost and you have to reset everything again and, in some cases, you do not even know what you had set up a long time ago. Therefore, it is advisable to be prepared for such a case as a precaution and to set up seed files with the desired default settings beforehand. For these seed files, however, it is strongly recommended to start with new "unloaded" user preference files in order to avoid later problems or not to inherit existing problems. Therefore, the current setting files should be removed first and new user preference files set up according to their own needs and saved and set up for later than seed files.
