Problem

When I try to snap to an element a message appears 'Element is in a non-snappable Reference' how can I make it snappable ?

Solution

The message is advising that the element trying to be snapped to is in a Reference file where the ability to Snap has been turned off.

To resolve:

1. Open the References dialog ( Drawing > Home > Primary > Attach Tools > References )

2. In the References dialog locate the Reference file mentioned in the popup message, in this instance (reference.dgn)

3. Check the box under the 'Snap' column against this Reference file ( If a tick is displayed snap is enabled for the Reference file elements )

( Note: if the 'Snap' icon is not displayed in the References dialog, right click on one of the column headings 'File Name' 'Model' 'Description' etc and choose 'Snap' from the available list )
