Background

How to upgrade MicroStation or any other print engine on the ICS for PDF server machine?

Steps to be followed-

• Take backup of the custom fonts and resources present in the locations- C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\MicroStation\Default\Fonts and C:\Program Files\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\MicroStation\Default\Symb
• Make sure no jobs are running inside Bentley Automation Service Administrator inside the iCS Server machine
• ​Stop ProjectWise Orchestration Framework service
• Kill any iplotorg.exe and Microstation.exe/ustation.exe process in Task manager (Details tab) 
• ​Remove current MicroStation
• Reboot machine
• ​Install new MicroStation
• Integrate MicroStation with ProjectWise by repairing ProjectWise Explorer
• ​If you have custom fonts or resources, you need to restore them to MS_FONTPATH & MS_SYMBRSRC variable paths (see first point)
• Open ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer Configure utility and check- MicroStation integration is toggled ON and used as IPLOT engine
• Start ProjectWise Orchestration Framework service

If you are upgrading OpenBuildings Designer, please verify which dataset is being used. A wrong dataset can lead to rendition errors.
