Full memory dumps using Windows Error Reporting (WER)

    Background

Windows Error Reporting (WER) is a flexible event-based feedback infrastructure designed to gather information about the hardware and software problems that Windows can detect.

Beginning with Windows Vista, Windows provides crash, no response, and kernel fault error reporting by default without requiring changes to your application.

    Steps to Accomplish

Steps to generate full memory dumps

    • Download the attached .txt files and rename them to .reg
    • Create "WER" folder under the BentleyDownloads folder e.g. C:\BentleyDownloads\WER\
    • Enable - Double click file WER_LocalDumps.reg to enable
    • Reproduce the crash in MicroStation
    • Check and verify, if the dump files are created under folder C:\BentleyDownloads\WER\
    • ZIP the dump file and share it with Bentley Technical Support via sharefile
Technical Support will provide you a sharefile link.
    • Disable - Double click file WER_LocalDumps_disable.reg to disable.
