Question 1: "When I open MicroStation and select the Project menu I don't see "Inside MS 7" as an option"
Answer:
In the Introduction section of Inside MicroStation V8i (7th edition of the book) a few corrections in the COMPANION CD-ROM instructions, top of page xvii:
"...for MicroStation Window XP, the subfolder is located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Bentley\MicroStation\Workspace\Projects. For MicroStation Windows Vista and Windows 7, the default folder location is C:\Program Data\Bentley\MicroStation\Workspace\Projects"
should be changed to:
"...for MicroStation Window XP, the subfolder is located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Bentley\<MicroStation installation folder>1\Workspace\Projects. For MicroStation Windows Vista and Windows 7, the default folder location is C:\ProgramData2\Bentley\<MicroStation installation folder>1\Workspace\Projects where <MicroStation installation folder>1 is the location of MicroStation used during software installation."
Comments:
An indication you do not have the dataset installed correctly is the absence of the "InsideMS7" option in the Projects menu located in the MicroStation Manager dialog box.
In the NOTE on page xvii, change:
"If you cannot navigate to the Application Data folder..."
to
"If you cannot navigate to the Application Data or ProgramData folder..."
This was an oversight for Vista and Windows 7 OS users.
