How to Network MicroStation CONNECT configuration after MSCE has already been installed.

 Product:MicroStation
 Version:CONNECT
 Environment:N\A
 Area:Configuration
 Subarea:Workspaces

In Windows File Explorer:

  1. Browse to, then Copy the Delivered Configuration Folder to your Network Location
    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\Configuration
  2. Browse again to MicroStation CONNECT Edition delivered configuration
    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\Configuration
  3. Open ConfigurationSetup.cfg using either Notepad or Note Pad ++
  4. This variable will already be there, add the path to desired location:
    _USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION = Network Drive Location Path

(Example):   _USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION= E:\My Company\Configuration\

  1. Put your Company Standards in the Organization Folder Structure on Network
  2. Create your Workspaces and Worksets in this Network Location.
  3. Launch MicroStation CONNECT
  4. You will see the Custom Configuration listed in the blue section on the left-hand side
  5. Your Workspaces and Worksets will be available from the pulldown menus

You can do these same steps within Bentley View to load your MicroStation CONNECT resources in Bentley View for your files to display properly in that product as well.

For Bentley View CONNECT to load MicroStation Workspaces

Browse to Bentley View CONNECT Edition
C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Bentley View CONNECT Edition\Configuration

Open ConfigurationSetup.cfg using Notepad or Note Pad ++

The variable is already there, add the Local or Network path to MicroStation CONNECT configuration location:

(Example Local Path):
_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION= C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation CONNECT Edition\Configuration\

(Example Network Path):
_USTN_CUSTOM_CONFIGURATION= E:\My Company\Configuration\

This will load whichever one you point to.

Note:
When you start the Product and get to File Open Screen, the Workspace pull down should have all the workspaces listed there to choose from.

Note:
If you are upgrading from a previous update of MicroStation CONNECT Edition and have Custom Configuration set, you will have to select the same in the Custom Configuration field of the Configuration page.
