Problem

Shadows are not visible on Drawing and Sheet models.

Solution

Set the configuration variables and then restart the software.

MS_SMOOTHMODE_SHADOWS = 1 This variable will add shadow dynamics for solar light only.

MS_SMOOTHMODE_SHADOWS_ALL = 1 This variable will add shadow dynamics for source lights in your scene.

If you have already prepared the geometry in the Design model, so you can take care about scene lighting to produce the shadows. Open the Light Manager dialog and turn on the Solar light and/or source lights if you have them in your scene. Flashbulb light will allow you to control the shadow opacity. By increasing the Lux value, shadows seem to be more transparent.

If you want to illuminate the model by lights from Light Manager, Default Lighting should be turned off.

Now create your Drawing and Sheet models. One of the methods could be by Saved Views tool. Another possibility is to place Elevation Callout.

Depends on the drawings production workflow, open the Drawing or Sheet model, where the Design model is referenced directly.

In the References dialog set for the Design model Visible Edges to Dynamic and in Presentation window Display Style with shadow. This shaded style should be also chosen in Clip Volume Settings.

To have ability to select e.g. Smooth: Shadow as Forward Display Style, it is necessary to select the option Usable for: Clip Volumes in Display Styles dialog.

The result should be from now visible on the Drawing and Sheet models. If not, try to refresh the view by switching between the models and check if the Solar light is enabled.
