Problem Description

I am getting an error when plotting to the Adobe PDF printer using printer.pltcfg.

The error is “[StartDoc] The specified datatype is invalid”. The error happens when plotting to a custom size (such as 22.0 x 157.0). The custom form was created using the Postscript Custom Paper Size option for the Adobe PDF printer.This seems to be an issue on Windows 7 64 bit only. XP works fine.

Steps to Resolve

Set the Print Quality for the Adobe PDF printer to 600 or below.

To do this:

1. Select the printer and go to Printing Preferences – Paper/Quality – Advanced.
2. Set the Print Quality to 600 or below (anything above 600 causes the error).
