How to install MicroStation without an internet connection, or without entering the proxy username and password.

Background

The MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3 and 4) installer attemps to contact the internet to download and install prerequisite components as well as the Bentley Visualization Content. If you don't have an internet connection, or if you have a proxy and don't enter in the username and password the installation wizard will hang until you connect to the internet or enter in the proxy information.

Steps to Accomplish

Download the Pre-requisites Pack for Bentley Desktop Applications

1. Log in to Software Fulfillment
2. On the left side at the top on the Search tab click "Product Line" 
3. Pick "Platform Technology"
4. For Product select the "All Downloads" hyperlink under "Prerequisites Pack for Bentley Desktop Applications" 
5. Download and install version 08.11.09.xx. by clicking the green download arrow on the right

Download the Bentley Visualization Content

1. Follow steps 1 through 4 from the pre-requisites instructions above
2. Download and install the Bentley Visualization Content version 08.11.09.xxx.

After you've downloaded and installed the Pre-requisite Pack, and Bentley Visualization Content you can now install MicroStation and the installer should not attempt to connect to the internet.
