Capturing additional information from the Message center is often very helpful during troubleshooting or on a more day-to-day basis when reviewing the results of relatively compex operations such as lengthy batch processes.

Background

Additional logging information can be obtained by increasing the size of the Message Centre log file.

The default number of messages is 50, this will not be enough to capture all of the messages generated during some operations, for instance a batch compress operation.

Steps to Accomplish

Open the message Center dialog, right-click:

pick 'Settings' then enter a larger number:

These settings are saved in your user preferences.

Admin Note: CAD/BIM Managers could deploy a preferred number of messages via a user preferences seed file.

Saving messages

Right-click and pick 'Save Messages...' to save the messages and details to a text file.

The default save location for this file is your project Out folder.

The active selection is ignored when the messages are saved.
