Raster Manager is able to attach PDF file of any kind. The PDF file is rasterized prior to being displayed using the PDF Library SDK (Software Development Kit) from Adobe. This ensures that the PDF file appears as if it was open by Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The process of rasterizing a PDF for displaying as a raster is depicted below.
IMPORTANT : Note that Raster Manager never decimates the raster data obtained from the PDF, but changes the rasterization DPI specified to the PDF Library SDK. This ensures that vector data like thin lines don't disappear at lower resolutions.
Some pages of a PDF can have multiple layers. With Raster Manager, it's possible to choose which layers are displayed via the Layer Display dialog. Element Info for the raster element > Display Print > Layers.
The Layer Display dialog simply lists the layers for the selected PDF page with an associated check box that's used to determine if the layer should be displayed or not.
Some pages of a PDF can have annotations containing text, video, sound, and so forth. Raster Manager only supports those annotations containing text.
The animated GIF at the left shows how to explore annotation found on a PDF's page.
It this animated GIF the star represents an annotation. As you can see, when the cursor moves over the annotation, it gets highlighted.
When left clicking the annotation a bubble box appears showing the text for the clicked annotation.
Note that to be able to explore annotations you must first select the annotation exploration tool which can be located here: Raster Manager > Display > Annotations > Explore.
