export to shapefile and plotting values on both sides of the road

Hi

Just wanted to ask if anybody has used the assigned_volumes exported to a shapefile for richer plotting in Arcgis or qgis and how values (results) on each link can be plotted to both sides of the road (one in each direction) .

Thank you

  • In QGIS you can also easily create 3d displays.

    Here is a quick example of something we are developing to support traffic forecasting.  Here is an example test case for Prince Frederick Maryland:

    \\corp.meadhunt.com\sharedfolders\data\Columbia\Shared\BunchJim\PFAMVC\I4AMVOL_VC.html
    Click on the above link. If it comes up blank then refresh the page.

    It displays the AM volume as the height and the Congestion level based on AM V/C as a color.
     The 3d html allows you to pan zoom, and twist. Zoom is wheel in/out Left button allows you to twist and change angle view.
    Play with it,
    A screen shot is shown below.

    Looking at traffic forecasting outputs such as traffic volumes, congestion (Volume/Capacity Ratios), speeds, delay, etc. is  for the most part still stuck in the 2 d world.  So we are working on how to display the network performance measures as 3d extrusions of the future transportation alternative networks.

    Here is an example test case for Prince Frederick Maryland:

    Over Capacity                    Dark Red              Am V/C >=1
    Congested                          Light Red             0.8 <= Am V/C < 1
    Some Congestion             Orange                 0.6 <= Am V/C < .8
    Low Congestion                Green                   Am V/C < 0.6
