Tab Mode:

Click on the Tab Mode Toggle to switch between tabbed and multi-document view modes.

To make tool visible go to Customize Quick Access Tool Bar and select Tab Mode Toggle.

Synchronize Windows:

Synchronize Windows allows users to compare and edit simultaneously. Several useful views for comparisons and editing are available.

NOTE: In order to synchronize windows make sure Tab mode is turned off.
