Troubleshooting the activation issues in CUBE 6

In some cases, the user might have trouble activating the 16 digit license key, using the license manager. This could result in some of the errors as below.

Solution

1. Error -105: Read Error from Network

Reasons: The most common cause is that computer has a firewall or restricted internet communication that does not allow our license manager to fulfill the licensing request.

Also, this can be due to remotely connecting to the machine while activating the license. Remote connection to the computer has issues with re-starting the license service properly.

Please make sure you are in front of the machine, such that license service is restarted properly after the activation.

2. Error -111: Connection Refused at Server

Reason: The most common cause is that computer has issue connecting to the live server port 5053.

Plausible Solutions: Check if the turning firewall off, enabled the connection to the server. If so, then the firewall configurations are restricting the access for server port. You must change the firewall rules that are blocking the port, for use of Cube.

Please make sure you are in front of the machine, such that server port is not being used by any other system. Rebooting might fix the problem with the activation, to free up the server port. As a final resort, you can try doing the re-installation of the software, and check if that fixed your issue.

Change in firewall rules: Two firewall rules may be needed: one for the license-client (Cube) and one for the floating license-server (which may or may not be the same machine).

3. If you still get -111 error even after following 2nd instructions (above)

Reason: Most likely the RLM services is stopped and needs to be started or ‘re-started’.

Solution: Type Services in Windows bar. Open Services. Look for Citilabs RLM in the list and see the status? If it says ‘Disabled’, right click and select ‘Start’. Click ‘Refresh’ in License Manager. Licenses should now appear.

4. Activation key already used

Reason: The license key, you are trying to activate, is attached to a host-ID, in our server.

Solution: Contact Bentley Licensing with the activation key you are trying to use so that we can de-activate the license manually for your use.
