How to add ArcGIS online background maps to a highway network layer inside GIS window?

    Product(s): Cube
    Version(s): 6.1 to 6.5
    Area: GIS Window

When you are editing the road network for different road projects, it is useful to have an imagery representative of the current/existing road conditions. CUBE has the ability to load up various base maps from Esri's database for this purpose. This post assumes the users have the compatible CUBE and ArcGIS versions installed. We will be working in the GIS Window for this.

    Solution

    1. Click on the Add Data button in GIS Window toolbar.

    2. Select Server Data on the left of the file explorer window. This should list the ArcGIS servers available on your network. This should also include the ArcGIS online services. If you do not have access to this, then you need to work with the appropriate department to gain permission, e.g. IT department.

    3. Expand the ArcGIS online services item and select the background layer you would like to add to the highway network layer. Click Open.

    4. The background map should now be added to your network window.
