Area:

Scenario Manager

CUBE provide users the ability to delete catalog keys within its Application Manager (AM). This can be achieved by right-clicking any key and selecting the Delete option. In some rare circumstances, the user may encounter a prompt window notifying them the key(s) are referenced by one or more applications within the catalog (Figure 1). This typically can be solved by following the Help from CUBE Base > Home > 15 Scenario Manager > Keys > Deleting Keys. However, the user might have skipped a step or still experience technical difficulties, e.g. delete the keys before refreshing the catalog, then there is a alternative solution.

Figure 1: Prompt of catalog key is used by one or more referenced application.

Solution

1. When attempting to delete a key, note what application files the catalog key is associated to by clicking 'Yes' in Figure 1.

2. For this example, we can see the catalog key, 'todelete1' is still referenced to the MODECH03.app even though the user might have deleted the key from the scripts of the associated application files. Note all keys that requires deletion for this process and close CUBE.

3. Open one of the referenced application file in a text editor and search for the key, e.g. Notepad++.

4. We want to removed all keys with the title 'todelete' (Figure 2). The comma must also be deleted as it is part of the unwanted statement.

Figure 2: Delete instances of 'todelete' catalog keys (blue box).

5. Save all the changes and repeat steps 3 and 5 for all referenced application files. Once the changes are made, reopen the catalog in CUBE.

6. In the Keys window, right-click any key and uncheck the option 'View Keys for Selected Applications Only' (Figure 3). Locate the unwanted keys.

Figure 3: Unwanted catalog keys located in the Keys Window.

7. It should be possible now to right-click the keys and Delete them without the prompt.
