As of November 21, 2023 we will no longer be supporting the legacy Cube 6.4 licensing. Many of you will be familiar with this type of licensing which used a 16-digit activation key and replaced the Cube 6.1 (and earlier) dongle, both originating from Citilabs Inc.

Going forward, the supported licensing system will be Bentley’s SES licensing which is being used in CUBE CONNECT Edition (v6.5.1) and later. Please note that your current workflows in v6.4 should be compatible in v6.5.1 with the only difference being the licensing change.

You will be able to continue using your 6.4 licenses on the computers that they are activated on. However, you will not be able to transfer them to alternative machines or be able to reactivate them on the same machine if uninstalled. In addition, we will not be able to generate these activation codes again or be able to distribute any unsupported software to you, including the software to which you now have access.

1. How long can I keep using Cube 6.4 on my computer?

If you have a permanent/perpetual license of Cube 6.4 then you may continue to use Cube 6.4 on the machine or server it is activated on for as long as the hardware is able to support it. From November 21, 2023, we will no longer support 6.4 which includes generating new activation codes or renewing old ones.If you have a subscription type (expiring) license, Cube 6.4 will stop working at the next renewal date after November 21st.

2. Can I move my 6.4 license to another computer?

Yes, but only until November 21^st, 2023. After that date you will not be able to activate or reactivate licenses so you will not be able to move them.

3. My 6.4 licenses are hosted on a server, does that make a difference?

This doesn’t make a difference, the above/below still stands.

4. What is Bentley’s SES licensing and how do I get it?

Bentley’s SES licensing works via user credentials and the CONNECTION Client. To find out more about how this works with CUBE see our Wiki articles.

5. What is the latest version of CUBE?

At time of writing, the latest version is CUBE CONNECT Edition v6.5.1.

6. Can I do everything in CUBE 6.5.1 that I could do in Cube 6.4.5?

Yes. The only change is the way we license the software as explained previously.

7. Will results differ between CUBE 6.5.1 and Cube 6.4.5?

Unless your model uses the random number generator function RAND()/RANDOM(x), your results should not change.
