Announcing MOSES Version 2023

The MOSES development team is pleased to announce the release of MOSES 2023 (

Bentley Lifecycle Policy and Version Numbering

Bentley Systems is making changes to the support lifecycle of desktop applications. One of the most important changes is that major versions of MOSES will be supported with critical fixes for at least five years, although users are still encouraged to update to each new version to benefit from new features that are added to MOSES. Bentley Systems has moved to year-based naming for all products. The version numbering ( has changed. The first two digit pairs (MM.MM) indicate the major version number of the software; the next pair of digits (uu) is the minor update of that major release (if any) and the final pair (bb) is the build number. 

Major versions will be installed side-by-side on the same machine, for example MOSES 2023 ( can be installed alongside MOSES 12.06. Minor updates to a major release will replace any existing installation with the same major version number, for example would replace but will still be called MOSES 2023.

Note that this major version of MOSES is numbered 23.07. This is to align with the Maxsurf version, which is developed by the same team. It is expected that when the next major version is released in 2024 both products will be numbered 24.00. 

New Features

MOSES 2023 includes improvements to the AeroDyn Integration released as a technology preview with MOSES 12.06. This feature has been improved by allowing multiple AeroDyn analyses to be completed in a single command input file. A new optional parameter has been added to the -FAST option on the TDOM command to allow users to specify the name of the files output from AeroDyn. All files output from AeroDyn will now be saved to the answer directory, supporting multiple time domain simulations run with the grid analysis service.

Other new features include:

  • Improved document navigation in the MOSES Executive. 
  • In Modeler a zebra map render option is now available from the render dialog. Zebra mapping assists in visualizing the degree of continuity across surface bonds.
