Introducing SACS CONNECT Edition V16.1 - SES

The SACS team is pleased to announce the release of SACSCONNECT Edition 16.1

The SACS Version 16 installer can be downloaded from Software Downloads or the Fulfillment Center (a Bentley login is required).

Full details on the changes made to SACS in version 16 Update 1 can be found in the SACS Readme File.

The installation manual can be found here.

The readme file can be downloaded from here.

Release Highlights

Tow - Fixed Gravity Component Critical Defect

A defect was introduced in SACS 15.1 resulting in a gravity vector which was applied incorrectly for the "Include Gravity Option" in Tow MOTION input. This defect results in an unconservative application of the gravity component in the opposite direction from inertial forces due to rotation (roll and pitch).

List of Enhancements

Dynamic Superelement

  • 1143326 - Added the ability to calculate Dynamic Superelement response with Runge-Kutta method for validation against Wave Response analysis.
  • 1144525 - Added the ability to select modes for the Dynamic Superelement analysis with Runge-Kutta method.

Fatigue

  • 1141776 - Added the ability to override SN curves independently for the brace or chord side of a connection using the CONSCF line.

Wave Response

  • 1141608 - Added the ability to define a wave height for constrained stream waves in conjunction with maximum crest elevation.

List of Defects

Dynamic Response

  • 1142625 - Fixed an issue where Harris wind spectrum results were incorrect when WINSPC lines were not included in the Dynamic Response input.

Fatigue

  • 1144620 - Fixed an issue with incorrect theta validity checks for ERD connections in Fatigue.

Joint Can

  • 1144643 - Fixed an issue where Joint Can would crash for API LRFD 2nd edition code checks.
  • 1144222 - Fixed an issue where AMOD factor of 2.0 denoting an ALS was not modifying the material factor for Norsok N-004 Rev 3 2013 code checks.

Post

  • 1144644 - Fixed an issue where Span elements could cause Post to crash.
  • 1141509 - Fixed an issue where some joint deflections were not reported in Postvue when a large number of load conditions were defined (>150).
  • 1144551 - Fixed an issue where tension only cases were checked as combined tension and bending unity check in ISO 19902 (2020).

Precede

  • 1143111 - Fixed an issue where CODE IS was being deleted when saving models when the ISO 19902 (2020) code check was selected.

PSI

  • 1144645 - Fixed an issue where pile code checks were not performed on some of the more recent codes.

Seastate

  • 1073897 - Fixed an issue in Seastate which omitted plate group header lines when writing a model with corroded plates.
  • 1085252 - Fixed an issue where C_pi was being calculated incorrectly for DNV wake encounter effects.

Tow

  • 1144646 - Fixed an issue where the gravity load was applied in the wrong direction resulting in reduce inertial loads for roll and pitch cases. This issue was introduced in SACS 15.1 when addressing another issue with the transformation matrix for accelerations for combined motions.

Wave Response

  • 1144647 - Fixed an issue where load condition names were being written incorrectly for extreme wave analyses.
  • 1143023 - Fixed an issue where Wave Response wrote incorrect force vectors to Dynamic Superelement in some models.
  • 1143061 - Fixed an issue where linear wave kinematics were applied to stream wave theory constrained waves.
  • 1143547 - Fixed an issue where wind speed profiles were incorrectly calculated for Von Karman and Froya wind spectra.
  • 1144306 - Fixed an issue which caused a crash when performing wave response analyses on structures with dummy structure member loads.
