User Defined SCF Values in SACS

In SACS fatigue analysis, for tubular to PG connections, how to locate various positions on tube for user defined  SCF values, like Crown/Saddle/Brace IP/Brace OP etc.? SACS Fatigue manual refers to some figure in CONSCF command, but no figure exists. The situation is more unclear for a vertical column to PG connection, since the footprint on flange is circular.

  • Kapildeb,

I apologize for the confusion. It appears that the CONSCF card image was generated incorrectly for the manual and needs to be fixed. I have attached an older version of the same card image with the correct input for that table and I have submitted a ticket to have the card image fixed in the next release of SACS.

When defining SCF's for plate girders, you can use the CONSWF line to override SCF's for particular members. The SCF specified is factored by the fiber stress at that location on the member, so the type of connection should not matter. You will however need to provide the correct SCF in order to calculate the correct Hot Spot Stress for the connection.
