Submarine in Maxsurf Modeler

Hi there, 
 I've imported a submarine Rhino 3dm file into maxsurf. It seems to recognise the outer hull as a surface, however the display is rather confusing (see attached pictures). Also when I open this file in maxsurf stability it does not recognise the outer hull. 
 Anyone have a solution to this unique problem?

The key here is to set the surface type. All of the surfaces which define the external closed volume which will be used for calculating the sections for Stability should be set to "Hull" and the other surfaces should be set to "Internal Structure"
