Dear Sir,
I have 2 questions below.
Refer to wave response manual section 2.5.3,
1) which one is 'Wheeler stretching' for random wave analysis?
2) which option (ST, VS, WH, CA or LN) are you recommend to used for wave kinematic at crest and trough when random wave analysis is executed?
Regards,
Kasiphon
Kasiphon,
1. The 'WH' option is the Wheeler stretching option for random wave analyses. The wave kinematics are calculated for the wave at the water line elevation using the Airy wave exponential decay and then that curve is stretched or compressed to match the surface elevation of the water.
2. All of these options are valid for determining the wave kinematics for a random wave surface profile, but they are dependent upon the environment. The 'ST' and 'CA' options are more valid for deep water environments while the stretching options 'VS', 'WH' and 'LN' are more valid for shallow water environments where nonlinear wave theories are more applicable.
