Some Unstiffened Conical Transitions are included in the offshore structure modeled with SACS 5.7V8i .
per Section 3.4.1.c Unstiffened Cone-Cylinder Junctions/API PR 2A-WSD 21st Ed., the equations (3.4.1-1) & (3.4.1-2) should be applied for the Conical Transition calculation. If these two equations are applies, how to find the f'b/equation (3.4.1-1) and fh'/Equation(3.4.1-2) from SACS output files? or the equations were not applied?
Dequan,
Go look at the detailed report I mentioned. It has the allowable hoop tensile capacity and the unity checks for the hoop checks.

Geoff
Hi Geoff,
I am doing the conical section check according to Norsok and when i reviewed the member, the UC's seems not right. see below screen shot for your reference. The acting axial stress is not significant, still UC is very high.
i would really appreciate if you could provide assistance on this.
thanks in advance,
Praveen
Hi Pravee K.I use SACS v.12, I think Conical UC for NORSOK is already solved. However, it might still be an issue for V.5.7.Geoff,
For SACS v.12, Conical UC for ISO is still a problem. The conical UC is very high for ISO code while it seems ok for hand calculation. Can you also have a look for Conical UC for ISO code for v.12 ?
Kasiphon
Hi Kashiphon,
Many thanks for your response. I am using SACS V(12.0). see below screen shot. I am still getting strange UC's.
Hi Praveen
It seems strange for me. Now I am struggling with SACS v.12 for Conical Check with ISO code. SACS result is totally wrong for ISO compare to my hand calculation with ISO.
When, i switched to NORSOK code, it seems ok compare to my hand calculation with NORSOK.
Btw, it is better to wait for Bentley to reply for this.
