anybody help me , for haunch section modelling in SACS, I HAVE MODELLED AS A TAPERED SECTION AND PROVIDE THE OFFSET BUT IT WAS SHOWING LIKE THAT IT IS OK , OR ANY MODIFICATION HAS TO DO IT . THE BELOW SACS MODEL SNAP SHOT AND ACTUAL HANGED SECTIONS ARE ATTACHED ,
Thanks ,

Thanks geoff for the reply, i have followed as per the previous post i am not getting the solution (See the above 1st attachment) ,for my problem the TOS should be at same level (snap shot are attached above 2 nd )
Karthikeyan,
You need to consider what you are actually doing when creating these models. It isn't always appropriate to simply make the model look like the final as-built product. You must think about how the beam-elements will be handled when converted into a stiffness matrix and solved. Consider the model you posted; I have drawn the beam-elements in red and the offsets in green. The offsets will be considered rigid links when building the stiffness matrix so your model will look like this when it is solved. Now let's consider the purpose of the haunch. Haunches are intended to increase the bending capacity and shear capacity of a beam near the columns. Do you think that the model is appropriately capturing your design intentions? That is an engineering judgement call that is the responsibility of the designer.
As I stated in your previous post about modeling haunch sections, you need to create a model that will give you the results you are interested in.
