I would like to study the responses of a slender 50m height pile of 1.2m diameter(in SACS) being transported from yard to the site. The responses such as deflection, mode shapes might be useful.
I have performed a towing analysis and obtained the 6 inertial forces . Modeled the pile separately with exact support conditions and applied the inertial forces to find the response. Whether this kind of idealization could exactly simulate the real behavior?
Please clarify whether the analysis could be performed in SACS?
I don't think I understand what you are trying to analyze. It sounds like you are asking if you can perform an analysis of the pile using inertial loading from transportation. This can be accomplished using the tow analysis where you can model the pile and applying the vessel motions or accelerations to the pile. I would recommend reading the tow manual and reviewing the sample problems to get a better understanding of performing a tow analysis with SACS. Keep in mind that the tow analysis assumes rigid body motion and will not model dynamic amplification effects.
